In early October, various tattoo associations from Europe came together for a Zoom meeting. As a group of “acting associations”, the European tattoo associations exchanged views on the factual and economic impact of the REACH regulation, which will be effective from 05.01.2022. And decided as the Council of European Tattoo Associations to limit the impact of Tattoo-REACH with joint measures.

The Council is supported by Michael Dirks and Erich Mähnert, petitioners for the Save the Pigments Initiative.

In principle, CETA welcomes the goals pursued by the EU through the REACH regulation to make tattoo inks less risky and more legally secure. However, in addition to its partly unfulfillable requirements and limit values, the REACH regulation seems to possibly also contain technical and legal errors that need to be clarified.

The associations acting here in the form of CETA not only see themselves as responsible for their national members to act, but will now also be able to face the EU strengthened by the union.

In order to inform on the part of the participating tattoo associations the national members, a press release was formulated.
